Former child actor and teen star Janus del Prado moves closer to his dream of becoming an action star thanks to his role in ABS-CBN’s newest series “Lobo.”

“Oo, naman kasi ako nagdadalawang isip lang ako kapag pa-tweetum na role (I now get second thoughts about accepting a teeny-bopper role),” del Prado said.

Del Prado used to play the character of “Empoy” in ABS-CBN’s defunct teen show “G-Mik”. Now, del Prado plays a gritier, more challenging role as Choi, a member of an elite military strike force in “Lobo.”

He is very happy Del Prado to be doing a pure action role and now has a chance to handle guns and other weapons for the very first time in playing a character.

“Well ngayon lang ako gumawa ng aksyon. Puro-drama, comedy at action fantasy pero ngayon lang iyong may baril talaga. (This is the first time I’m doing action. I used to do drama, comedy, and action fantasy but this is the first time that I’m holding a gun),” the young actor added.

Del Prado said that he readied himself for the physically demanding role, focusing on cardio exercises since his role involved a lot of running during chase scenes.

Del Prado did a good number of projects as a teen star, totalling 22 movies as well as many commercials and TV dramas.

His last movie project was 2007’s “One More Chance” with John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo and his last television series was “Bituing Walang Ningning” with Sarah Geronimo.

Del Prado has set aside his studies despite his busy acting schedule. He dreams of becoming an animator one day, and is now a college freshman taking up Multi Media Arts.
