Two of the most respected actresses in the industry, Susan Roces, the Queen of Philippine Movies and Kris Aquino, the Box-Office Horror Queen will join forces for the first time on TV this January offering viewers a teleserye that will surely be blood curling, spine tingling and exciting all at the same time. The two worked together in the past but in a movie, “Mano Po 2.” Because of their individual acting credentials, and issues that surround these front-page celebrities, it can be expected that “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara” will be a toprater.
One of the best horror movies of all time in the Philippines, “Patayin sa Sindak si Barabara” once again makes its way into our home television. Adapted from the 1974 movie with the same title starring Susan Roces and the later on with another remake with a cast of Dawn Zulueta, Tonton Gutierrez, Antoinette Taus and Lorna Tolentino, and directed by talented and multi-awarded director Chito Roño in the year 1995, the film caused great excitement, much interest and was even the talk of the town. “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara” is considered one of the first horror films that experimented on the way scary movies are usually done. This resulted for the film to gain much attention and positive feedback from its viewers. Possession is the main theme of this movie as a disturbed soul come back to haunt the living with one goal - to find out her husband’s true love. As a jealous and suicidal wife dies and leaves a curses disturbance to their peace as she aims to take revenge on her husband’s presumed lover.
THE ORIGINAL STORY : Barbara ( Kris Aquino ) returned home from the States when she learned that her half-sister Ruth ( Jodi Sta. Maria ) has already died. She is left to take care of Ruth’s husband ( Albert Martinez ) and daughter ( Celine Lim ) . But suddenly weird things start to happen. Ruth’s spirit is haunting Barbara and kills anyone who comes in her way. Little by little, the motive of Ruth’s actions are revealed. Did Barbara really do Ruth wrong? Or there is a deeper reason behind these hauntings?
The series is the first installment of Sineserye Presents: The Susan Roces Cinema Collection and is set to premiere January 2008.
